Other than lattice, what is something pretty to use around the bottom of an above ground pool deck?

I've seen a couple with solid boards. Shapes can be cut out of the boards like hearts or stars or animal shapes. that looks pretty awesome. they could be run vertically or diagonally to suit your preference. You could also use something like clapboard siding or even shakes might look cool. you can get shakes with circular shaped ends that look like scallops. might suggest fish scales if painted right.
